This book is part of my foundational mathematics collection that underpins my journey toward AI research.
Why it’s in my collection: Lang’s approach fundamentally shifted my perspective from viewing mathematics as a collection of formulas to seeing it as a coherent logical system. His emphasis on first principles and axiomatic development gave me the mental framework to approach more advanced topics with confidence. This text served as the bridge I needed between computational mathematics and the abstract reasoning required for theoretical AI work, particularly in understanding algorithm correctness and convergence properties.
